Protein
Protein is an important nutrition component in your diet and is
particularly so after your gastric bypass surgery. Protein is needed to
repair and replace muscles and tissues in your body.
If you do not consume enough protein you may experience hair loss, slow wound
healing and you may lose lean muscle tissue. Particularly during the first
month after surgery you will not be able to consume enough protein through foods
alone. We suggest using protein powder. Protein powder can be purchased at
most health food stores. Most people should try to consume between 80-100
grams of protein per day. We would suggest that you speak with a
Registered Dietitian or your physician regarding you particular needs.
